Red King Crab "Taraba" (Whole)
Red King Crab -- or "Tarabagani" -- is a delicacy prized by Japanese and Russians for its sweet succulent meat, and its size. They are harvested in the seas around Hokkaido, especially the Sea of Japan and the Sea of Okhutsk during autumn and winter, making them a perfect seasonal treat for winter visitors to Hokkaido. They are available in various sizes, but we recommend 1.5 kg crab as a great size for a gathering of 5 or 6 people.
